When singing a song, words are important. Our worship should have a point textually - not necessarily musically. As we focus on the message of a song, we embrace many songs from various traditions and styles.

Conversationally driven

When singing to God, our individual relationship to the meaning of the words is different than others, i.e. some songs will speak to us more than others on any given Sunday. This relationship of the message God wants us to hear coupled with our response to that message while we're singing, is one of the ways we build our character and prepare our hearts for God to speak to us though the message.
